REFLECTION

Experience
After completing the last semester of typography, I have now reached the end of this semester's advanced typography module. Reflecting on my experience with these two modules, I find typography to be both enjoyable and challenging. However, this semester was particularly demanding due to the abundance of assignments. Unfortunately, I didn't manage my time properly, which presented the challenge of having to conduct research and complete work swiftly. In this "Advanced Typography" module, we were expected to explore various software tools on our own. It seemed that our lecturer assumed we already had a solid foundation in typography, treating us as adults in terms of responsibility and self-direction. Despite the challenges, I feel incredibly fulfilled by the overall experience. The module has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and skills that I have gained throughout its duration.

Observations
From the tasks we have completed, I find all of them quite interesting, and I wish I had more time to dedicate to each one. In Task 1, I experienced a sense of anxiety due to the numerous small components and the tight deadline. Nevertheless, when considering the tasks as a whole, Task 2 and Task 3 stand out as my favorites. The opportunity to design my own logo and create branding was truly exhilarating, providing me with a fresh and unique experience. Despite having previously worked on font creation in Typography Task 3, I feel that the tasks assigned this semester offered distinct and diverse experiences.

Findings
I discovered that each assignment played a crucial role in enhancing my understanding of information hierarchy. Particularly in Task 1, Typographic Systems, I thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with different placements and manipulating white space. This experience influenced my subsequent works, as I strived to effectively organize information through careful consideration of point size, placement, appropriate colors, and the use of white space. Comparing my typographic layouts now to those in Typography Semester 1, I can confidently assert that they have significantly improved. It brings me great joy to reflect on how I have transitioned from dreading Typography to genuinely wanting to learn and explore type independently.
